Geiranger is a village in western Norway, at the head of Geirangerfjord. Part of the steep Trollstigen mountain road weaves through the village, connecting to Flydalsjuvet lookout, which overlooks the fjord.
The deep blue UNESCO-protected Geirangerfjord is surrounded by majestic mountain peaks, wild waterfalls and lush vegetation. The area’s unique topography was created during a succession of ice ages, when glaciers carved out deep fjords and shaped the high mountains.

Harstad is north of the Arctic Circle but has a subpolar oceanic climate with mild winters and cool summers due to the Gulf Stream. It is sheltered from severe Atlantic storms by a range of mountains to the west.

Honningsvåg is the northernmost city of Norway located in the Nordkapp (North Cape) municipality. Although it is located at the northern extreme of Europe, it has a subarctic climate without permafrost, thanks to the Gulf Stream. The ice-free Barents Sea provides rich fisheries. Tourism is also important to the town. The North Cape’s midnight sun is famous. It never rises in winter or sets in summer and in fact, it is only 2,100 km (1,300 mi) from the North Pole.

Akershus castle and fortress is a medieval castle that was built to protect Oslo and provide a royal residence for the King of Norway. The castle has also been used as a military base, a prison and government offices.
It is believed that construction started around 1290 by King Haakon V, in response to an attack on Oslo by a Norwegian nobleman, Earl Alv Erlingsson of Sarpsborg in 1287. In the aftermath of the attack, it was clear that the city could not be defended and a strong fortress was needed. To this date, Akershus has never been successfully besieged and overrun by a foreign enemy, although it surrendered without combat to the Nazi Regime in 1940 when the Norwegian government evacuated Oslo.
It is still used as a military base, but now also contains two museums and is open to the public daily. There is also a mausoleum which is the final resting place of many Norwegian royals.
