New as a Leyland Vehicles demonstrator, in 03/1984, this very rare, there were only two built for the U.K. market, Leyland-DAB built in conjunction with Leyland's Danish subsidiary was acquired by the well respected Jim Stones, in 09/1986. Powered by Leyland's TL11 engine, it was well looked after by Jim Stones, where it once carried registration BUS1T. When the Stones family retired, thankfully this unique bus was saved for preservation. It is seen here on display at the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust's Morecambe Rally & Running Day, who's main base for the day was the Mazuma Stadium, home of Morecambe FC, on 22/05/2022. The other one built was new to United Auto., 1500, B500MPY, in 10/1984. I think these were an attempt to replace the Bristol LH who's production had ended in 1982. © Peter Steel 2022.

New to South Yorkshire PTE(2013), in 09/1985, registered C113HDT, this rare articulated integral build powered by a horizontal Leyland TL11 engine was one of three with two doors and coach seating for use on Fastline Service X91 from Thurnscoe to Sheffield. These were still in South Yorkshire post-deregulation and gained the bright yellow and red Mainline livery. It was later acquired by the Bath Bus Company, along with another two, for use on Service C3 Bath - Midsomer Norton. Passing to RML Travel, it was painted in this black livery and promoted The Chapel night club. Thankfully, it was saved for preservation and is now in Mainline livery. It is seen here at the Wedgwood Pottery Visitors Centre, Barlaston, during a Potteries Omnibus Preservation Society Bus Rally & Running Day, on 20/05/2007.

The camera being a Pentax MZ-M with the film being a Fujichrome Colourslide.

New in 08/1979, it is seen here at Leyland Vehicles HQ on what was either the 1st. June or 8th. June 1980 at what I think was the Bus Driver of the Year Area Finals also coinciding with a vehicle road run and rally. 7074 looks to be reversing into a 'garage'. I put this bus down as the title to the photo as it as nearest the camera, however to the right is something more interesting in South Yorkshire PTE(SYT), 2010, FHE293V, a Leyland-DAB artic. It is seen here with trade plates 887CK and devoid of fleetnames suggesting it had yet to be delivered. Again, after looking at 'flikr' it would seem to be giving rides around the test track, but I can't say if I travelled on it or if it was invites only as this was 37 years ago! I've lost a few brain cells since then but I'm sure I would have had a run on it given the chance!

The film used was Agfa Colourslide with the camera being a Praktica MTL3.

I would request, as with all my photos, that they are not copied or downloaded in any way, shape or form. © Peter Steel 1980.
