In February 2015, D Stock car number 8041 still had line diagrams with the London 2012 Olympics venues shown, something that only appeared for the duration of the Olympics (July to September 2012).

OFF indicators are provided at platforms to indicate to guards and dispatch staff if the signal is clear. If the signal it is linked to is displaying any proceed aspect, then OFF will be lit (but no indication to show which route has been set). Usually there will be a sign plate next to them to show the number of the signal it is linked to, but doesn't appear in this case.
They were used at Gunnersbury by the guards on London Overground services, however in November 2013 the service was fully converted to Driver-Only operation, leaving these slightly surplus (they don't appear on London Underground stations). In this case the signal for the northbound platform was displaying a single yellow, and the signal in the Richmond direction was green (both proceed aspects). However, only one of the indicators were lit, so either the bulb had expired or it is linked to something else.

By 2001 the D Stock on the District Line was the only fleet that hadn't been painted into the London Underground red, white and blue livery. They were also the only remaining trains from the "unpainted" era that hadn't been given an interior overhaul.
So in 2001 a prototype interior scheme had been produced, given to the centre car of unit 7008 (7008-17008-8008). The colour scheme had been changed from the 70s and 80s orange to a more subtle green and grey colour.

Handrails were fitted by the doors, horizontal handrails replaced the hanging bobbles, information screens were fitted, new covers fitted to the ceiling vents, large windows cut out into the ends of cars, uncovered T12 4ft cool-white fluorescent tubes replaced with a diffuser and T8 4ft daylight-white tubes.
The production refurbishment didn't include the fitting of door handles, existing handrails and ceiling vent covers used, and T8 5ft fluorescent tubes used, and door open buttons removed. Car 17008 was left mostly in prototype interior.
