Apparently there’s such a thing as a Batman Day on the 21st, I have to confess I’ve only learned about it late last night.

So here goes a fresh re-work of my mini Tumbler batmobile from 2012, with a whole new, better construction and some more detail too — especially on the tricky "nose", if you care to look closer.

I've somehow missed getting a decent shot of this one last year, so here it goes.

As previously mentioned, there's always one more that doesn't require dismantling the scout's limbs. I wouldn't go as far as to call it a "toy" since the upper part of the thrusters doesn't come solidly interlocked the way you'd expect it in an official set, yet still it's solid enough for play. And even if the minifig comes whole, I still wanted to have the rider looking like he's riding ON the bike, not IN it. This vehicle just doesn't make sense to me if the rider doesn't feel like mastering the bike, not the other way around.

I'll probably post a couple of more shots on Instagram in the following days.

The very cool thing about Tin Lizzie is that in its two decades long lifespan there are so many body variations that you could build versions until your fingers go numb and never get bored. Well, I don’t… My favorite one must be the late 20’s with lower cabin/rooftop that marks the transition towards the equally famous Model A body.

Just one picture for now as I’m not yet set on the wheel/tire combos. It drives me crazy that I can never pair similar design wheels and tires for front and back on these cars and I would be happy if at least tires would come as a family, then I wouldn’t have to “build” these frankensteins on the fronts. I wonder how much longer until tire 92409 gets a similar treatment as the 5033 piece I’ve used on the rears. It wouldn’t be such a disaster to have a consistent design approach across the City line, don’t you think?

Just a couple of parts away now from having it completed in real bricks.

I was curious to see what if you'd visually suggest all those complex slanted surfaces using just colour blocking and simple rotation points. It's interesting how few are the angles where you actually feel "cheated". Or at least to my eyes, that is.

If you've missed the previous posts I'll say it again, the prongs are very much inspired by Carter's design from 2017.
