After the first snow had fallen overnight, even at lower altitudes, my favorite fog and winter motif, the famous Neuschwanstein Castle in the Ostallgäu, had to be used again. The fog was just the right height and the first pictures were taken at sunrise.

Norfolk is renowned for its windmills and Weybourne Mill, near Sheringham on the north Norfolk coast, dates from the mid-19th century. It is a five-storey brick tower mill, complete with cap sails and fantail. The Grade II-listed mill, which now incorporates a house, fell into disuse in 1916 and was restored and extended in the 1920's by architect J S Brocklesby.

This beautiful row of Georgian buildings in the beautiful little village of Burnham Market in North Norfolk are all related. Furthest from the camera with the porch and Doric columns is Burnham House. Dating from the 18th century, with a facade dating from around 1800, the rather grand building is Grade II-listed. This side of it is Burnham Cottage (with the four windows), also dating from the 18th century and Grade II-listed. It was originally a service wing for the main house. The archway this side of it was to enable coaches to pass through to the yard and other buildings at the rear. Out of shot to the left is a much smaller cottage known as Coachman's Cottage. And that is exactly what it was. All properties are now separately owned.

This pretty little cottage is situated next to the churchyard in the village of Wood Norton in North Norfolk, and is unsurprisingly called Church View. What perhaps is slightly surprising is that it seems to be constructed purely from brick, with not a hint of the Norfolk flint that seems to be so widespread.

In years gone by Thornham in North Norfolk was once an important port. But like most other places in North Norfolk it has become heavily silted up and salt marshes now extend from the village some half a mile towards the sea, with a vast sandy beach beyond. When the tide is out the small boats are stranded at their moorings with just a trickle of water making its way through the narrow channels in the salt marshes.
