A favourite image from last month's west coast of Ireland exploration.
Purteen is on Achill Island in County Mayo. At the height of its operations, this harbour was the site of hundreds of landings of basking sharks per year - valuable for the oils within their livers. This oil was burned in the street lamps of Dublin.
This was the first place on the list of destinations - its intricate arrangement of quays, breakwaters and that wonderful lighthouse at the end of the main pier - made it a mouthwatering opportunity for coastal photography.
