I have always liked the way bull moose look when running into the camera. This bull was running from another larger bull. I usually kneel for a low angle. Shoot till I feel they are close enough and then quickly move off to the side. Bull moose
are not very aggressive while they are in velvet.

I took this portrait of the Little Female a few days ago.
Then, Little Red a Male I haven't seen for several months showed up.
I was able to capture him in a similar pose and thought it would be good to post them next to each other.
As a comparison.
Male and female.
Note the slight differences in head shape and his darker red color. Hence the name Little Red. He is a smaller male.
He has been hanging around her den for the last few days.
When they are focused on her, they completely ignore me. Which is cool, as it allows me to work in close.
Also, an older male that is really starting to show his age, is showing up. He is pretty banged up.

This is Little Red. A beautiful very red male, that might be a sibling to the little female. He is pretty shy. So, I was happy to get this shot.
He has been hanging around her den site.
I think she may have come into a late heat, as there is another older male hanging around also.
I went out today and got a ton of shots of her.
About 980 to be exact.
I do have a heavy finger when shooting.
But, you never know when it might end.
On Thursday, when I went looking for her, I couldn't find her or any of the other fox that live in the area.
So, when I get a good opportunity, I try to make the most of it.

I took a lot of pictures of this bull last fall. I haven't seen him this year. I really hope he made it through the winter and will show up again this fall. He was chasing a cow and there were a couple of "fat tire bicycles" that two other photographers had left in the trail. When he came to them he just did a big leap and cleared them. He was moving at at full gallop. Afterwards, I was kicking myself for panning to fast and cutting him off in the frame. That was why I didn't post it sooner. Still, I kind of like it, as it is a bit unusual.

I am pretty excited! Yesterday, I got to spend 3 hours photographing two Kodiak Grizzly/Brown Bear cubs. They are orphaned cubs. They are being kept in a 3/4 acre enclosure. I am allowed to go in with them. This is the little female. They have named her Shaguyik. Shaggy for short. Name is Eskimo for ghost or shadow. She is a hand full. All attitude. There was very heavy fog in the morning. Then the sun peeked over the mountains for several hours. Sun then disappeared behind the mountains at 3pm. Beautiful golden light while it was showing. I am headed back out shortly to try to improve on what I got yesterday. This has certainly brightened up my winter. :-)
