I love these tiny little Dart Frogs. There are so many variations & colors. They are usually something I photograph for a winter project.

Earlier I posted a picture of a Blue Dart Frog on a red bromeliad. This is another species of the dart frog colored yellow and black. It is also called a "fine spot", as it lacks the large black areas and bands that other D. leucomelas have. As it gets older more and more of the black spots develop. They are very active and don't sit still for very long.

This is my second attempt at photographing this little beauty. First time I got way to many hot spots from water droplets.
When I say little, think tiny. It can sit on my thumbnail and still have room to move around. Very tiny. About half grown. Oophaga pumilio almirante (Strawberry Poison Dart Frog - AKA Blue Jeans) The "blue jeans" should get more pronounced when it is full grown. They are very active.

This is one of my rainy day projects. I love the little poison dart frogs, they are so colorful. Kind of hard to get them to pose, they are very active. :-) Macro shot using my Canon Macro Flash. Hand hold. The Bromeliad that both of these little frogs was photographed on is called "Kings Ransom". It is one one the most beautiful bromeliads I have ever seen.
