Cdr McBragg and I ventured out one day to see if Decatur-Indy train Q594 would be bucking any drifts on its eastward trip. Sure enough, it had been and would bust several more! We chased from Tuscola to Paris. What a thrill!

Out on the western end of the former Conrail system, former CR B40-8 5087 is working in Paris, IL. Originally built for and found on TV trains at high speed, today she is switching the main customer, Illinois Cereal Mills, in this one-time New York Central hub.

I never heard what caused the delay, but being 12 hours behind schedule means a daylight run for westbound train Q593 at Harris Spur, IL, north of Paris on the old NYC Egyptian line.
Most of the mileage that remains on this line in Illinois is lightly used, if at all. This location sees only two trains each day, usually both in the wee hours of the morning.
Today's train is being moved by three leased, former NS (nee Southern) GP38's, which have been prolific in the area on locals recently, as CSX is rebuilding their own GP38's.
