From the Wyoming highway 130 overpass UP 5948 rolls tonnage west through Laramie, WY, and passing one of possibly America's last still thriving and vibrant downtowns.

Located on US Highway 287, hard by the Union Pacific Overland Route, Laramie is the home of the "Cowboys." On a July 2004 evening, this eastbound intermodal train featured a solid brace of New SD70M's, the lead unit being one of two painted for the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics. This was just another fantastic moment in my first trip to Wyoming.
