Shinjuku is one of those parts of Tokyo that is largely of no great interest to me anymore. Initially fascinating, over time that fascination has dulled significantly for me.

But, the west side - with its architecture and wonderful late afternoon light and night-time charms - still keeps me going back.

This scene, from inside Jōenji Temple looking towards the Sompo Building, is a scene that constantly fascinates me.

And on a rainy night especially.

I've been working with model Akari Kanazawa for 15 years. Every time she's back in Tokyo, we always try to catch up and make some new images together.

This was from our catch-up in 2023.

We had just an hour with each other, photographing here in The Forum and also in a couple of places in Ginza.

Spent a morning with the sprint legend, Usain Bolt, back in December of 2022. Was there to make some portraits of him for the company - StepAPP - that he was in Tokyo to do some PR work for.

Fascinating morning. Lovely guy. He really liked the monochrome shots.

The tunnels underneath west Shinjuku are a constant source of fascination and photography opportunity for me.

For years they've been a spot I'll go in bad weather or searing heat, to shoot portraits or just take a cool shortcut.

There's a very definite feel of Kubrick's "2001", from the lighting to the fonts and colours used.

Recommended for a walk if you're in town.

Part of a commission a few years ago, to shoot the McLaren GT in various locations around Kyushu.

This building has been a fave for years. Was nice to finally find they'd built a car park nearby that had an upstairs deck, so I could get the car elevated a little.
