Creek in Franklin Tennessee near by brother's house. When you forget your tripod, an abandoned workers pale will have to do. Franklin, Tennessee, USA, October 2013

My brother Rick is an environmental biologist and an orchid specialist. He's been patiently caring and waiting since 2010 for a Stanhopea tigrina to bloom. It finally did, and to his surprise bloomed out completely white (possibly full albino), which is an infrequent and unusual occurrence. The normal flower is strongly blotched and barred with brown and purple. These are large flowers, about the size of your open hand, and very fragrant. Rick lives in another state, so I coached him over the phone on how to photograph this flower which only stays in bloom for about 48 hours. He sent me the file and I touched it up in post for him. But Rick did the heavy lifting since he cared for the orchid, was there to see it bloom and captured the image. All I did was coach the capture and touch it up. Good piece of teamwork. Happy B-Day Rick. Nice timing on the bloom.

HFF ... could be fence Friday or falls Friday but either way, it's a happy day. Fall Hallow is off the Natchez Trace Parkway in Tennessee. The parkway is a very pretty and scenic drive. This is the foot bridge at the entrance to the area (the falls are farther down the trail). Their are two falls along the hike, and several nice little cascades flowing down the creek.
