Something a little different, but I like this courthouse and wanted to practice some "blue hour" cityscape photography to mix it up. The Fort Worth Courthouse is one of the historical architectural buildings in the city. It sits high on the bluff of the Trinity River. It was designed by Gunn and Curtiss Architects of Kansas City and it is a striking example of American Beaux Arts Design. Constructed in 1895, it was one of the first structural steel framed buildings built in the Southwestern United States. The monument on the street corner honors past judges, and this photograph was taken at twilight in the early morning. 7:05 according the courthouse clock. Fort Worth, Texas, USA, January 2015

And now for something completely different. This is a cool alley downtown that feels like something out of the past. It's a very contrasty shot though between the dark shadow areas and the bright neon lights, and required a 5 exposure HDR to get it all. If only there was a couple beatniks smoking under the lamp. Flashback Friday. Haven't shot much this year, so it's given me the chance to the clear some of the archives. This restaurant is closed now, so it's a piece of downtown history that is already forgotten. You're going to see a little city photography mixing in with the nature for a while. Hope you don't mind. Something I should do more often. Maybe I'll print this for my office. Couldn't hurt. Shot in the nautical twilight. Comments welcome since I'm listening. Fort Worth, Texas, USA, September 2018

After spending way too much time correcting the perspective on this picture, I understand why people like tilt-shift lenses. I don't shoot enough architecture to get one ... famous last words. Anyway, this is Haltom Jewelers which has been downtown forever, and still is. Shot just after the rain which I think makes the streets more interesting. Fort Worth, Texas, USA, September 2018
