We had Dakota down for the weekend again... which was a great excuse for a trip on the Haverthwaite - Lakeside railway.
Dakota said "what beautiful scenery" looking out the window of the train (and similar a few times). I think she rather enjoyed the Aquarium of the Lakes too!
Not a bad day out really!

Today I decided to do something I haven't done since the funeral. Go to Callum's grave.
I wasn't sure how I would feel, there is still so much emotion about the events of 22nd December 2008 - when I go to "see" my Mum I feel sorrow and loss, here I felt anger and betrayal for so many reasons.
It took me a while to find the grave as it is so small, but the wording... not so true - especially given the circumstances of his death and the reaction to it from elsewhere. But that is really a subject for another time and another place. I am sure the report is still on various newspaper websites though, it was last time I looked.
There was nothing at the grave, so I was glad I had taken him a wee toy, I spent a little while saying that I was so sorry I failed him... and then started the long journey home.

I have some new pound coins and feel... underwhelmed.
Being a former archaeologist I am very much into the past - it's interesting - but I don't think it is something we need to go back to. Perhaps it is just me thinking that using a shape based on a pre-decimalisation coin is trying to create some kind of jingoistic national pride based on what was in the face of a very uncertain and not particularly appetising future.
Brexit propaganda? It does kind of fit... the coins feel cheap, fake and nasty!
