Twin screw towboat "Richard C. Young" (doc. # 553902, length 145 feet, width 48 feet, GM 16-645E7B diesels, 6140 hp) built in 1973 by Jeffboat, Inc., Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Originally owned by American Commercial Barge Line, Jeffersonville.
Sold in 2001 to PKC Properties LLC and renamed "Miss Kris".
Leased to Triple M Transportation, Geenville, Mississippi.
By 2009, apparently sold to SCFM Towing LLC, St. Louis, Missouri, and leased to Marquette Transportation Co., Paducah, Kentucky.
Coast Guard documentation expired in 2014.

Sternwheel steamboat "Belle of Louisville" (Length 192 feet - Width 41 feet - capacity 998 passengers).
Built 1914 by James Rees & Sons Co., Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and rebuilt in 1968 by Jeffboat, Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Two engines, each 16 inches in diameter with a 6 1/2 foot stroke.
Three return flue boilers (built by Nooter Corp., St. Louis, Missouri, and placed in 1968), each 28 feet long by 56 inches outside diameter, with 13 six inch flues. Burns fuel oil.
Originally named "Idlewild" and owned by the West Memphis Packet Co., the boat operated at times as a packet, excursion boat and ferry.
In 1928, the boat was sold to New St. Louis and Calhoun Packet Corp., Hardin, Illinois.
In 1947, the boat was sold to J. Herod Gorsage, Peoria, Illinois, and in 1948 she was renamed "Avalon".
In 1950, the boat was sold to Steamer Avalon, Inc., Cincinnati, Ohio.
In 1962, the boat was sold at auction for $34,000 to Jefferson County, Kentucky, under the leadership of County Judge Marlow Cook, and renamed "Belle of Louisville".
As of 2018, the boat was operating public and private cruises from the Louisville wharf.

This twin screw towboat (doc. # 536311, length 141 feet, breadth 35 feet, GM 16-567C diesels, 3200 hp.) was built in 1971 by Superior Boat Works, Greenville, Mississippi
It was originally named "Capt. W. F. Fredeman" and owned by Port Arthur Towing Co.
In 1979, the boat was sold to Alliance Marine Services, Metarie, La., and renamed "Alliance Prince".
In 1986, the boat was sold to Dixie Carriers, Houston, and renamed "Dixie Leader".
In 1998, the boat was transferred to Kirby Inland Marine, Houston (see photo in Kirby colors).
At some point after 2016 the boat was renamed "Jennifer Ann".
Still operating in 2018.

Looking NNW from I-64 near foot of 33rd Street.
K&I (Kentucky and Indiana) Bridge connecting Louisville, Kentucky, and New Albany, Indiana.
This bridge was completed in 1912, replacing an earlier, lighter bridge which was completed in 1886.
It is currently (2016) owned by Norfolk Southern Corp..
The bridge has two sets of railroad tracks, with lanes for vehicular traffic cantilevered out on each side.
Trains still cross the bridge, but the vehicular lanes were closed in 1979.
There is an effort to reopen the bridge to pedestrians and cyclists.
