Looking E from top deck of "Starship Landing" (wharf boat for excursion boat "Star of Louisville").
Left of center, permanently moored barges provide some protection against stray vessels or other large objects drifting downstream and hitting "Star of Louisville" while it is moored.
At right, Waterfront Development Corp. building, which formerly housed offices of sand yard at this location (operated by Martin Marietta, and before that, Ohio River Sand Company).
The ground floor contains little more than a stairwell and elevator shaft; the offices on the upper floors are raised above most floods.
Beyond the building, the sand yard has been cleared before construction of Waterfront Park.
