Feeling a bit Portraity, this week.

I have featured this lovely Goose before.
He and his partner had a territory alongside the river at the WTP.
They had over the years hatched a number of clutches.
Some disaster occurred and he lost her, probably to foxes.
But for the past couple of seasons the noble bird has remained faithful to the territory.
I thought, perhaps, that he migh have joined with the large flock that has been in the area for awhile.
But, no, the other day we found him still at his post.
As usual I stopped and we exchanged a few head bobs, and a quick chat, and he then went back to feeding.

This Sea Eagle has been availing itself of a generous supply of ducks on a lake at the Western Treatment Plant.

Feeling a bit Portraity this week

Madeline has a nest site selected, and they seem to working on building a nest, but she is not sitting.
I found her resting in the shade, perhaps waiting for Mike to come in with food.

Feeling a bit portraity this week

This is a young gull, perhaps coming into its 4th year.
Up to the third year the beak tip is black and the feathers a mottle of brown. This one is showing white feathers coming through and they reach maturity around the 4th year.
