37075 leaves Howarth with the slightly delayed 10:30 Keighley to Oxenhope service during the diesel day of the KWVR 50 celebrations. 01/07/18.
While many would photoshop the crane in the background out, I think it adds to the picture and, since this gala was a celebration of the 50 years of progress at the railway, the crane itself is a symbol of further progress. Who knows what the skyline will be like in 50 years time...!
37075 has recently had the nose end doors put back in at this end of the loco, previously sporting a metal plate where they were removed back in British Rail days. Not original for the livery it carries but, it is the perogative of the owners to do whatever they wish!

While being prepped for service at the Autumn 2009 Diesel gala at the East Lancs Railway, 37901 basks in a fortunate break in the cloud at Baron Street yard.
37901 was one of four locos fitted with a Mirrlees 6 cylinder power unit with a view to use in the Class 38 project - a British Rail project to replace the Class 37. Although this never took off, a development of the power unit was used in the class 60 heavy freight locos introduced in the late 1980s/early 1990s. Spending its life predominantly based at Cardiff Canton since conversion, it was withdrawn from service in 1998 and then sold into preservation in 2002.
Based at the Llangollen Railway and then the East Lancs Railway, 37901 was sold out of preservation to Colas Rail in 2015 but since then has languished at St Leonard’s depot. Rumours of a return to main line service have, so far, come to nothing.
