A beautiful evening in my home-town. The streets are decorated with colourful umbrellas. The sun is setting the sky on fire. But my eye was drawn to that elephant on the roof. "Why is it up there?" Whenever I come by an interesting looking church I can't resist going inside. What a gem I found here in this small town in the north-west of Italy. The light that poured in through the windows on the left was gorgeous. It illuminated everything in a delicate way.

Big and famous cities are not iconic everywhere. Leaving the metrostation, I saw these staircases by some condos. I liked their colours and shapes. Found a nice point to compose the image. Using the telephoto-lens made it possible to compress the scene, so it became more abstract.

One of the reasons why I wanted to visit Singapore was Gardens by the Bay. A man made park with huge plantlike structures which light up after dark. For me these structures are sci-fi in real life. Call them aliens, call them parts of the Avatar-world. The structures are so tall and that you can't photograph them without distortion. But I like the overhanging position.
Scouting out the location during day and coming back at dusk. I wanted to have at least an early bleu hour shot to integrate the ambiant light with the first lights on the structures. Staying longer gave me also the opportunity to catch everything in illuminating bright colors. But that's something for another time. For now:

How does a bucketlist get it's content? In my case I watched an episode of "Photographing the World" by Elia Locardi around 7 years ago. This landscape and cityscape tutorial was recorded all over the world. Elia's shots from Singapore really encouraged me to visit this place. One of his locations was this spot near the bay. So when I had the chance to visit Singapore this year I knew that I wanted to make this image. I was lucky with the circumstances: no rain, nice sky and no other photographers that wanted my spot 😉. I am satisfied with the result and ticked one item of my list.
