you can see the 2wd durango of death down there on the side of the road. this was a heck of a climb, but the shot was pretty good from up there.

while we watied in the freezing wind at hogan, for the train that was stopped on the other side of the tunnel, some real life cowboys came by with a real life cattle drive. awesome, huh? even more awesome was the fact that all the salt that stuck to the 2wd durango of death from our salt flat adventure was LICKED OFF by the passing cows!

of course, after having waited for two hours for this train, the clouds rolled in when the train hit the tunnel. still an amazing sight, though.

morning UP freight headed towards arnold loop from silver zone pass. there was a lot of snow on those hills back behind the train, as we soon found out!

as the train rolled away from us into the vast, impressive expanse of desert, the clouds parted, and we had a really great sight to behold. oh, and there were snow showers out there, too. brr.
