The Music Project is a charity which aims to unite the next generation in post-civil war Sri Lanka by using music as a bridge language. They operate amongst several schools in the north and south of the country, with groups meeting several times a year for concerts using the skills they've learned.
Having worked with the charity before on their website, I was lucky enough to visit one of these concerts held in the north of the country. Watching the children play their instruments and have a good time in each others company, quite often not being able to directly communicate, was quite an experience of positive cohabitation.
As the children took a break from practicing for the concert later in the day, my unhealthy obsession with patterns led me to set my camera up to photograph this doorway and the corridor which ran alongside the classrooms on one side and the central playground on the other. While busy concentrating on the camera settings and pointing out certain things to some of the more inquisitive boys, I didn't even notice that this girl had stepped into the frame until I looked at the photographs later.
Her being there immediately made this my favourite photo of the day.

Rocks... the smaller, closer one at the summit of Piduragala, and Sigiriya itself behind it...
Sigiriya is towards the center of Sri Lanka, to the north-east of Kandy. It is widely considered as another Wonder of the World. For more info, Check this

Every year several locations in Sri Lanka are swamped with the masses for May Day rallies. As one would expect, the largest is for the leading party at the time. This year there was predicted to be 2 million present for the rally, and being there in person, I'd have to say it wasn't far off.
One of the groups in the leading party's rally was "Sri Lanka Youth" which had several hundred members. The interesting thing was that almost all of them looked to be well past 30 and even into their 40s which really brings the whole reality of the rally to question.
