On my way home from work today I saw this storm rolling in. I pulled my car off the side of the freeway (I-95 about 20 miles NW of Las Vegas, NV) set up my gear and started taking 30 second exposures hoping to capture at least one of the images with lightning in it.

An image from the archives. I never thought that I would miss the dry arid deserts of Nevada, but when I came across this image a flood of memories and feelings of happiness came to mind. All of the photo road trips through out the Desert SouthWest with some of my old friends really made for some good times. This image was taken outside of Las Vegas on our way to a Star Party in Death Valley. I really like the brooding dark yet colorful clouds- not a sight often seen in Southern Nevada.
