Surrounded by oil seed rape fields, Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway No 9 "WINSTON CHURCHILL" is seen passing Botolops Bridge near Burmarsh whilst working the 17:10 Hythe to Dymchurch. 11th May 2008.

Finished by The Yorkshire Engine Company of Sheffield by assembling parts from two new engines ordered for the RH&DR it was delivered to the railway in 1931, No 9 was based on a Canadian style chosen by Howey as it was felt that the larger cab would give the driver better protection against some of Kent's fine summer weather. It's current livery is Bright Red applied during its last major overhaul in 2013.

Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway No 8 "Hurricane" is seen on Denge Marsh shortly after departing from Dungeness whilst working the 11:00 to Hythe. Tuesday 21st April 2009.

Built by Davey Paxman & Co. and delivered to the railway in July 1927, shortly before the war it was painted blue and renamed "Bluebottle" and name which it would keep until after the war when it regained the name "Hurricane". In 1957 she hauled a Royal train carrying HM the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles and Princess Anne and to this day retains its now famous blue livery.

Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway No 7 "Typhoon" is seen passing Botolops Bridge near Burmarsh whilst working the 17:10 Hythe to Dymchurch. Monday 5th April 2010.

Built by Davey Paxman & Co. and delivered to the railway in 1927, Typhoon was based on the other Henry Greenly designed Pacific's that were already at the railway at that time. It's current livery is Malachite Green.

Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway No 12 "John Southand" is seen on Denge Marsh shortly after departing from Dungeness whilst working the 11:00 to Hythe. Tuesday 6th April 2010.

The railway's first 'mainline' diesel was built TMA Engineering in 1983, and has eased the eased the burden placed on the fleet of steam locomotives. It is often seen on permanent way trains but does make the occasional appearance on passenger trains such as that pictured.

Dungeness and Denge Marsh is a headland on the South Coast of Kent and contains one of the largest expanses of shingle in the world. It's also classified as Britain's only desert by the Met Office.

Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway No 3 "Southern Maid" is seen waiting to depart from Hythe with the 14:00 to Dungeness. Sunday 10th May 2009

Built by Davey Paxman & Co. and delivered to the railway in 1926, No 3 was originally to be named "Southern Chief" however these plates were removed in favor of its current name prior to it entering service. It's current livery is RH&DR Green.
