Memorial to “…Rev. Gavin Lang who fell in France 28th April 1917.”

Douglas Strachan is considered the most significant Scottish designer of stained glass windows in the 20th century. He is best known for his windows at the Peace Palace in The Hague, Netherlands, at Edinburgh's Scottish National War Memorial and in cathedrals and churches throughout the United Kingdom often working with Sir Robert Lorimer.

Strachan was born in Aberdeen in 1875. He studied art at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen and later studied art at the Life School of the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh.

South Gallery window by Stephen Adam of Glasgow, 1892. Christ in majesty, cherubs, seraphs, angels, apostles and martyrs. Lower centre panel shows a poor man at dawning and a rich man at night, praying. Lower left panel shows Jesus as a baby and lower right witnesses his walk to cavalry.

North Gallery window by Winfield of Birmingham, 1891. Shows Jesus preaching on the lake of Galilee. Christ walks on water in the upper left light. Peter is sinking. On the right, Jesus preaches to the lakeside dwellers.

West Gallery window by Cottier of London, 1891. Jesus tells the Samaritan woman of the water of life. In the centre he welcomes the children. On the right he chides Martha and praises Mary.
