Art Deco mansion block designed by Thomas Bowhill Gibson and Stewart Kaye for the builder James Miller, 1935-37. Brick-built with a facing of artificial stone and cement render. Very similar to the smaller block at Forbes Road in Morningside by the same architect/builder combo.

The first two levels were built before WWII, however work was stopped due to the war. It was originally intended to be hotel apartments but the original builders went bankrupt and Millers bought the site and changed it to flats. No. 7 is the biggest flat as that was originally intended to be the dining area.

Additional info: George Oldham, Caretaker.

Art Deco meets it's Victorian neighbour. This area had some significant building work going on in the 1930s/40s as the nearby Learmonth Court, Learmonth Terrace etc. were all built in the 1930s and the rest of the scheme completed post-war to the same design. One can probably date this garage to about the earlier of the builds as it's situated at the upper edge of the scheme where it meets it's Victorian neighbours, although I have no information on it at all. The Victorian building is the stunning A-listed Learmonth House.
