During the folding phases of an new tessellation, before flattening the paper completely, this form occurred. A paper-secret that reveals it selves while folding. It reminded me a of star to be born ;-)) Because it is to fragile to stay this way, I just took a photo of this phase and continued folding ;-)

I folded the first three stars from the model "Etoile" by Lydia Diard and I decide to stop now and fold a whole field of stars from an other thicker kind of paper. Two reasons: first, I like the model as it looks now; second, this paper, glassine, is too thin and slippery to fold these stars. But it is very nice paper to take pictures because of its transparency, as you can also see in this very early stage of collapsing the first star.

A few years ago I folded just one 'etoile' and at that time the CP's were free available on the internet. Now you have to ask Lydia Diard for it, link is here, but I didn't. I had fun in reengineering this tessellation.
And here it is: the finished version of the "Etoile" by Lydia Diard, with 7 stars on one side and 7 flowers on the other side. Of course you can fold more stars and flowers, if you make a larger grit.
I was surprised by the backside (photo right), it's like a flagstone ;-)) and one can see cubes too instead of flowers.
Folded from tant paper, hexagon 33cm, grid 1:32, finished size about 14 cm.
Here you can see the 'backlit ' version.

Molecule on the top is from "Etoile" by Lydia Diard, or if you prefer the backlit version .
Lower molecule is from "Star Shield Tessellation" by Hariono Susilo.
To my surprise they both discovered, independently from each other, more or less the same star-tess. The difference is the beginning. Lydia Diard starts with a twisted hexagon, where as Hariono Susilo starts with a hexagon, which gets closed.
Folded from vellum, hexagon 17,5cm , grid 1:16
