From the archives - June 2013 - Monte Carlo, Monaco

The F1 "track" in Monaco has the slowest corner in Formula One (the Fairmont Hairpin, taken at just 48 km/h or 30 mph) and just around the corner and to the right is one of the quickest (the flat out kink in the tunnel, three turns beyond the hairpin, taken at 260 km/h or 160 mph).

The Monaco Grand Prix (French: Grand Prix de Monaco) is a Formula One motor race held each year on the Circuit de Monaco. Run since 1929, it is widely considered to be one of the most important and prestigious automobile races in the world and, with the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, forms the Triple Crown of Motorsport. The circuit has been called "an exceptional location of glamour and prestige".

What I'd give to be there again this weekend!

June 2013 - Nice France

The Port of Nice (also called Port Lympia). The Port was built in 1672, by Count Amadeo de Castellamonte. It was only a small lagoon at the time. In 1761 the Port was expanded.

Though fortunate to have stopped in Nice to admire its' warm Mediterranean breeze on a couple of occasions, this day we were just passing though. I snapped this photo while being driven to Monaco by an actual Niçois. As you can imagine, a Niçois is a native or inhabitant of the city of Nice.
