What makes this natural park truly special is its unique blend of natural beauty, and ecological diversity. It is a rare example of a protected wilderness area just a short distance from Spain's capital urban center, making it a sanctuary for both wildlife and city dwellers looking to connect with nature.
The park is home to Peñalara, the highest peak in the range, which is not only a striking geological feature but also a biodiversity hotspot. It hosts rare plants and alpine ecosystems, including the endemic Peñalara saxifrage.
