Canadian National local L510 has just crossed the CP diamonds at Duplainville, Wisconsin while heading back up towards North Fond du Lac the morning of February 18th, 2012.

The special flat cars with large transformer loads on the head end are out of a manufacturer down in Waukesha.

Over the years I have frequently seen moves of one, occasionally two – But three at a time like this is something I have only been fortunate enough to catch on just a very few occasions. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

Can’t run trains without the track being maintained in top shape, and regular attention to wear & tear is required to keep it that way.

At Byron, Wisconsin along the mainline of the Canadian National, new ribbon rail and tie plates had been distributed for an upcoming track maintenance project. – February 19th, 2017 ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

Southbound Canadian National symbol U780, a loaded taconite ore train, is grinding its way up Byron hill just south of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on February 11th, 2011.

This heavy train of 201 ore jennies required a pair of rear end helpers to provide some extra muscle on the worst part of the grade, and they can be seen in the upper left corner of this photo off in the distance down by the Church Road grade crossing. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

Two long-distance Canadian National stack trains are meeting at Duplainville, Wisconsin the afternoon of February 27th, 2014.

Southbound train Q116 with a pair of SD60Fs is a Roberts Bank (Vancouver), British Columbia to Chicago train, and waiting over in the siding was northbound train Q199 from Chicago out to Prince Rupert, British Columbia (950 miles north of Vancouver).

Those 5500 series CN SD60Fs were neat locomotives, basically a cowl-bodied standard SD60, the CN at one time owned 64, but as of this posting all had been purged from their motive power roster including several that were sold off to three different regional railroads. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

One more photo of the WSOR 4001/WAMX 4170 featured in my last two posts, this one more recent having been taken on February 18th, 2021.

Here Wisconsin & Southern train L599 is pulled up towards Slinger Road while making some back and forth switching moves behind them in Ackerville yard.

As soon as they complete their work and then receive authority to cross the Canadian National just ahead at Slinger Junction, this train will be heading back west towards Horicon. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©
