Eastbound Wisconsin Central train T040 is rounding the sweeping curve at Willow Creek Road near Colgate on February 22nd, 1997.

WC 6001 was formerly Algoma Central 181 and continued to work in ACR paint as seen here for nearly four years before being painted WC Maroon & Gold.

It was the only SD40 rostered by the WC. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

On the south side of Fond du Lac, a pair of big CSX motors are crossing U.S. Route 41 with Wisconsin Central train FDBOC just as the Sunrise of January 29th, 2000 starts to chase the darkness of night out of the sky. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

Due to traffic ahead, Wisconsin Central symbol FL088 is stopped and holding at American Drive just west of Neenah on February 9th, 1997.

As soon as the congestion clears, this Stevens Point to Green Bay train will be able to proceed off of the Neenah sub and onto the Fox River sub to continue on its way. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

Over by the diesel ramp area of Shops Yard in North Fond du Lac, a 1980s era Chevy Beauville window van crew taxi is parked next to a variety of Wisconsin Central locomotives.

I remember seeing a two-tone Red/Silver van just like this four years earlier over on the Fox River Valley Railroad, so it was most likely the same one. – January 7th, 1996 ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

A pair of rebuilt EMD SD45s (7508 & 7526) was providing plenty of power for a southbound Wisconsin Central train of taconite ore loads seen here passing through Van Dyne, Wisconsin shortly after 12 noon on January 20th, 2001.

When the WC rebuilt these locomotives, the first digit of the road number was simply changed from a 6 to a 7, so these two were formerly the WC 6508 & 6526 – if you look closely at the number boards the “6” can be seen showing behind the “7”.

Since the former Santa Fe SD45s were generally in much better condition mechanically, nearly all of the WC rebuilds (34 of 43), including this pair, were their ex-Burlington Northern units. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©
