Back on October 10th, 1994 I was out photographing the Wisconsin Central up towards Oshkosh and this is one of the trains that I was able to catch (I did not know in advance that it was coming through).

I don’t recall the exact reason that Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 #261 was disguised as the Lackawanna #1661, but it did make for some unique photos of this beautiful steam engine and I was fortunate enough to be able to catch it twice in Oshkosh as well as here at Van Dyne, Wisconsin. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

Wisconsin & Southern SD40-2 #4006 and Soo Line 2-8-2 #1003 are charging out of Slinger, Wisconsin on Canadian National trackage.

I am not sure where the Soo 1003 was headed on this July 7th, 2005 – At that time (and probably still so today) it was a standard requirement by the CN to have a diesel leading any steam move. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©
