Three of the Fox River Valley Railroads ex-C&NW GP9 diesels are humming along Broad Street in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on a June morning back in 1992. – Although I did not show a symbol in my notes for this train, it was most likely a BUGB running from Butler up to Green Bay. – This is the routing through town that the Canadian National still uses today.

One of the fun things that I have made an effort to do over the years when photographing trains is to subtly compose into a shot at least one example of the various different cars and trucks that I have owned. – The gray Chevy Blazer parked over on the left is what I was driving during this time. – June 27th, 1992 ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

For decades the freight yards of the Soo Line and Chicago & North Western had existed just a stone’s throw away from each other In North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin – And with changing times it became the neighboring regionals Wisconsin Central Ltd. and Fox River Valley Railroad as seen here on December 20th, 1992 where eastbound SD45 powered WC train T002 is arriving while an FRVR GP9 idles across the way near the old C&NW roundhouse. – Of course in the years ahead the WC would acquire the FRVR, and then the WC itself would eventually be swallowed up by the Canadian National – Nothing stays the same forever. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©
