In the early evening of February 7th, 1998 Wisconsin Central SDL39 #588 & leased Amtrak F40PH #359 rest between assignments at Shops Yard in North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

The WC had leased five of these surplus Amtrak units for a few months back in 1998 with an option to purchase, but their passenger train gearing and lack of rear visibility made them unpopular with most crews, so the lease arrangement ended up being cut short. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©
