Adventures out on the open road are now nothing more than fading memories for this once stately and powerful 1958 Buick station wagon. – October 2018 ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

Whenever I travel out to the state of South Dakota, I always find myself stopping in the tiny town of Ree Heights, it’s almost as if I am subconsciously drawn here.

Located way out in the country about fifty miles or so west of Huron, this mystical place just has the feel of having been forgotten by the rest of the world and somehow frozen in time. – June 2023 ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

….. Reasonably priced and although getting up there in years and a bit rusty - Still willing to work very hard for a new owner in exchange for a safe and loving home. – May 2016 ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

From the vault of vintage Kodachromes, a photo from spring of 1960 featuring a 1957 GMC moving van. – I have always liked the styling of the bigger 57’ GMC trucks, that grille just seems to have a tough “all business” look to it.

It’s possible that there was a 235 cu in 140 HP six in this one, but more likely one of the bigger, higher HP “Turbo Fire” V8 engines that were available that year.

Exact location of this photo is unknown, but the Aaron Moving & Storage lettering on the door shows that business as having been based in KC MO. – Photographer Unknown - Photoshop Restoration by Jeff Hampton

At a nearby farm that had long since given up most of its tillable acreage to subdivisions, a really sharp 1959 Ford F100 with a For Sale sign is parked facing the highway.

Of course, I had to make a U-turn to investigate this one, and yes I did seriously consider buying it, and probably would have if it was sporting the very attractive two-tone paint that was available on some models that year. – It was reasonably priced and sold quickly.
