Last summer my garden pond was inhabited by a frog. When sun was shining, he sat on the edge and was warming the back. In the fall he disappeared. Yesterday when I came into the garden, it suddenly splashed forth from the pond ... behold, my frog is back! Maybe he was with the storks in Africa?

Wilhelma, built as a royal palace, is now a zoo in the northern suburbs of Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is Europe's only large combined zoological and botanical garden and is home to over 8,000 animals from over 1,000 different species and exotic plants from over 5,000 species.
The upper section of the zoo includes an impressive stand of sequoia trees.
The zoo immediately adjoins a public park to its west, laid out in the 'English landscape style' of rolling grass and informal groups of trees. In landscape terms this perfectly complements the landscape of the zoo.

... ist er ganz sicher, der kleine Teichfrosch im Braunschweiger Schul- und Bürgergarten. bei den heißen Temperaturen traut er sich nicht mal für eine Minute ganz aus dem Wasser heraus. Um ihn Aug´ in Aug´ fotografieren zu können, hab ich mich langlegen müssen.

Der Teichfrosch, auch Wasserfrosch genannt, kommt in Ost- und Mitteleuropa flächendeckend vor und bevorzugt sonnige Plätze und reiche Vegetation.
