The Clock Tower dates back to 1814/15 and is a B Listed historic building and in the same complex as the Barony Chambers , former town councillor's meeting rooms , the former Parish Church which is one of the oldest buildings in the town which date a far back to the 1600's and now houses the local small museum known as the
Old Kirk Museum.

The old church was replaced by a much larger one and known as St.Mary's Church in 1914 further up The Cowgate. In 1806 there was a Tollbooth on this site ( presumably to charge the horse & carts for using the town's roads ). On the left is the large William Patrick Library incorporating the HUB for members of the public do their business of council affairs
