I named this image 'Pigs Trotters' because that's what my hands became during this bitterly cold shoot a couple of nights ago.
Subzero temps are easy to handle until it gets windy. When that maritime wind kicks in all bets are off. My fingers and thumbs become utterly useless and the incompetence factor is off the charts.
It'd also been a while since I'd shot any still with the Sony A1 so I'd kind of forgotten how I had the dials set up.
This was one of those shoots where I had no idea if any of my shots were going to work out because I was rushing and just couldn't get my hands to work enough to check the image playback.
In addition to the biting cold I had waves crashing over me and the tide climbing up to my knees as I huddled next to this boulder.
After the second wipe out sprayed the camera good and hard I decided to quit while I was ahead. So far the camera seems to be working fine but I was careful to give it a proper clean once I'd defrosted and got back to my lair.
It was a thoroughly miserable experience which you'll hopefully get to enjoy vicariously in a couple of weeks as I captured the entire ordeal on video.
I loved it.
Watch this space.

I tried. Honestly, I really tried hard.
I always said I'd never go to Iceland and if I did I'd avoid shooting the low hanging fruit hotspots like this one.
Well, you know how the saying goes, 'never say never'.
When the low hanging fruit looks this good it's impossible to drive by and not take a look, or a photo or two.
What made this waterfall even more difficult to resist was the fact that we could see it from our Airbnb out on that flat prairie you can see in the background.
We drove past it at least twice each day.
This was actually my second visit to the falls. I was so impressed on my first visit that I resolved to come back for a second crack during the sunset instead of just after.

A beautifully clear piece of this iceberg is currently sitting in my freezer at home.
A Brighton local called Jerdan regularly ventures out in his boat to collect the pieces of ice that crumble and fall from the big icebergs.
He gives the white cloudy ice to visitors for free but if you chat for a while and convince him you're a big Youtuber he might just hand you a slice of the crystal clear stuff that's been trapped in a glacier for 10,000 years.
I'm waiting for a special occasion to enjoy a pint of Baileys with some lovely glacier ice.
What could possibly go wrong?

I'm not sure I'd risk it with my current girth.
It was a lovely foggy morning on Fogo Island in Newfoundland.
Handheld shot with the Hasselblad X2D.
