54184/53536 are working the 13.10 Bletchley to Bedford service. The train has left Lidlington and is passing a platelayers hut which has seen better days. There were sidings here but on the other side of the line.

Whenever I went to my friend who lives in Erdington I had to pass Saltley Depot, when I say "pass" of course I mean drop in and see what was on.
On 29th December 1983 it was boring just 47's a couple of Peaks and a pair of 25's, At the time I was annoyed because the mist and yard lights should have combined to give interesting pictures. So miffed was I that I didn't bother noting numbers.
If only digital cameras had been around, instead of being stuck with whatever the ISO the film was! Today we can take good pictures in almost any lighting conditions just by changing to a high ISO value.

The cattle dock at Barnt Green was a splendid place for railway photography. This was the first colour slide taken in 1984, it shows 50014 'Warspite' speeding toward Birmingham, the train was the 07.35 from Plymouth, often a good bet for a pair of locos.
Today the dock has long gone, part of the site is housing and the railway is behind tall fences and trees, what remains of the view is also spoiled by OHL equipment.
50014 was built at the Vulcan Foundry as D414, it entered traffic 24/04/1968, she received the name Warspite 30/05/1978. Warspite was withdrawn 13/12/1987 and cut by Vic Berry (Leicester) 01/07/1989

A slight mishap at Preston has resulted in a destroyed buffer stop, a mangled BG and a rather bent class 25. Working practice even then dictated that the guy looking at the mess from just the other side of the bridge should have had a Hi-Vis vest
