" The story of the perch ....
This is a small branch of a cider apple tree that came down in the gales last winter.
Since then the resident flock of Solway sheep have rubbed off all the twigs and bark by using it has a scratching post.
The attached piece of wool is testament to this activity .
The local Great Spotted Woodpeckers have made use of it has a convenient stopping off point on their way through the orchard.
The fieldfares have found it also very useful has low look out post for them to search of rotten apples in the grass...and
finally they can wipe their beaks clean from the remains of the rotten apples on it... the small pile near the top being evidence of this .
A happy and healthy 2025 to you all :-)

I like moose antlers with wide palms.
This bull had nice wide palms and I was trying to figure out how best to show them.
He finally started feeding and put his head down.
So, I moved in close in front of him and waited till he lowered his head to eat.
He was still keeping an eye on me while he was eating.
I noticed that the tip of his left ear is missing.
Fish & Game tag some of the bulls.
These tags get caught in brush when they are eating and in pulling them loose they tear a piece of the ear off.
I hate seeing tags and collars on moose or any other animals...........

I've wanted eventually to get a saguaro sunset shot for 35 years, but my attempts as a young, inexperienced photographer with poor equipment were not successful, and I haven't even visited Arizona in 20 years. So the shot was high on my wish list for my visit in April 2024. Somehow these photos never got uploaded, however.
