In deteriorating weather conditions we headed to the west coast of Lewis to 'scout' a location for the following day.
The heavy rain and strong winds made landscape photography impossible, but I managed to grab some shots of this attractive bird from an open car window without getting wet.

The weather forecast for Saturday, our second day on the island, was poor but we still made the effort to get to Garry Beach near Tolsta hoping for a hint of a sunrise colour. Needless to say it didn't happen but the beach was stunning and there was some nice diffused light that encouraged us to stay.

The view back to the mainland from the Ullapool to Stornoway ferry was very dramatic.
The expansive sky with varied cloud formations combined with patches of sunlight and the silhouettes of the hills of Weter Ross just had to be snapped.

The first photography stop on our short visit to the Isle of Lewis and Harris was as far north as you can go on the island; the Butt of Lewis with it's Lighthouse, rugged cliffs and coast.
