Well....THIS was a completely unexpected experience this morning! While out just scouting near out neighborhood for some sunrise and sunset spots this morning, we came across this small lake. I decided to bring a long lens even though we were looking for landscape shots, because.....you just never know. Yup, I sure am glad I did! We came across a number of wintering ducks that are very skittish. One of my favorite ducks is the hooded merganser. As the flock of mixed ducks quickly moved away from us, these hooded mergansers took flight. I raised my lens and captured what I could. Here are a few of my favorites! The male is the one with the big white feather band on his head. Northern Colorado 12-18-2024.

"Sunset Cloud Frame"
The sunset on November 22 2024 in northern Colorado was one for the books. I'm so glad I went out this small pond to catch the reflection. Longs Peak, Mount Meeker and the front range mountains provided a lovely silhouette. I was totally in awe during this photo shoot.
