The streamlined, Red-breasted Merganser is a handsome bird and a great fisher - its long, serrated bill helps it to catch and hold its slippery fish prey. It is most commonly spotted around the coast in winter, not on a lake like these two.

The Geotrupes stercorarius, commonly known as the Dor beetle or Dung beetle, is a remarkable insect with a scientific name that reflects its behavior and role in nature. Geotrupes, derived from the Greek words "geo" meaning earth, and "trupes" meaning drill, signifies its ability to dig into the ground. Stercorarius, meaning "the one that cleans out," highlights its role in cleaning up dung. It is worth noting that ancient Egyptians held the Dor beetles in high regard, considering them sacred.

The coal tit is mainly found in coniferous woodland but can also be spotted in gardens and parks. It is smaller than the great tit and has a similar foot pump-like song.
