This is a flickr first for me....wildlife (well if you don't count yesterdays bug). I came across this bird coming into work. I saw it on the ground and just assumed it was stunned. I came back few minutes later and noticed it was still on the ground. So I picked it up. Upon closer inspection I noticed something lodged in it's eye (wood or something). So really carefully pulled on it..but it wasnt budging. The thought crossed my mind that I was trying to pull out its dislodged eyeball. So I looked closer and I was pretty sure it wasn't (an eyeball). So I carefully yanked it out. As soon as I did the bird perked up, so I set him down for a photoshoot. Then we put him in a safe location. Several minutes later we found that he/she has flown away. So when people ask what I do..I reply "I save birds".

Praying Mantises are exclusively predatory and their diet usually consists of living insects; larger species have been known to prey on small lizards, frogs, birds, snakes, and even rodents. Most species are known to engage in cannibalism. The majority of mantises are ambush predators, waiting for prey to stray too near. The mantis then lashes out at remarkable speed.

#218/365 This little guy has been living on my bicycle tire for the last 2 weeks. I'm not sure if he(she) hunts at night but I never see him(she?) move. I even found some freshly deseased bees I set up on the tire as an offering. I have a couple clearer shots..but I thought this was the most interesting with the super shallow dof. I used one of those screw on macro lens filter. It makes the dof insanely shallow. The names reminds me of a Harry Potter spell :)

#165/365 Well, no one can accuse me of not having some variety. This little guy was haning out in the pool. I got out and grab my camera (don't worry it wasn't the d3). Got back in and did my best Ninja sneak up. Tried to get a straight on shot but the little bugger flew off. Enjoy your Sunday (these weekends sure do go by fast!). Is it me or is grinning?

"He doesn't want to know what's going wrong
Because he's in love with a drug
One that makes him numb
One that stops him feeling at all"
-The Cure

#26/365 This is a tribute to the show House M.D, which is on tonight! Which, as of now, I feel the best show on television. I also decided it was a good way to do a mini tribute to The Cure. You really would be impressed if you knew how small that bug was (I'm not even sure what it was). If you are scratching your head over this image...then go buy a house dvd and watch the intro!

EDIT: This is the top down view of a bug..I've had several people say they couldn't figure out what it was..but when I showed they saw and said "ahh I see it now".

P.S. Someone tell Robert Smith I'm available to design thier next album cover....heck I'll even write the album for them (can't be any worse than their last..heeyyooohhh!).
