With the on-going construction of the San Dieguito River Valley and the destruction of their brooding tree, the egrets have moved over to the San Elijo Lagoon Nature Preserve the next valley over. The lagoon has great trails, Annie's Canyon, all across from the railroad tracks and Highway 101 next to the Pacific Ocean.
