It's always a treat to see a new bird. But one this rare and far from home is exceptional. Thanks to Scott Morical for getting out to the coast in bad weather and finding this ultra rarity. It's believed to be the 6th or 7th state record.

This photo illustrates the immense wingspan of this raptor relative to its body. He is a late migrator. The photo was taken this morning, in late November. I have not seen another Osprey here for the past month.
