I was hiking for Dall Sheep during the sheep rut in mid November when I spotted a young Eagle taking off from out of the trees above. Hiking up farther I began hearing ravens, and magpies squawking and carrying on above. I got closer to the commotion and thought I spotted something white on the ground across a small gully. I was about to make my way across and go investigate when I spotted this eagle sitting on a tree branch, its face covered in blood. What a sight! After the eagle took off, I continued on to investigate and discovered a Dall Sheep Ram had fallen off the cliffs above and met its end, braking his neck and back in the fall. Its death would mean life for many of the birds and other critters that would feed of its carcass.

I was with my son on a several day trip to Denali National Park to photograph Bull Moose in early September. On the drive home I saw this beautiful pond on the side of the road with something swimming in it. I pulled over to see and was pleasantly surprised to find it was a beaver. My son and I got out to get a better look and was surprised to find that the beavers had created a dam right near the road which allowed water level photography by simply squatting down at the edge of the dam. The fall colors were absolutely gorgeous as they reflected in the water. When these two critters swan across each other I knew this would be a favorite photo and a cherished memory with my son.

I watched several Black Bears while on a trip to Valdez, Alaska towards the end of August. The bears had a fish buffet as thousands of Pink Salmon made their way up streams to their final destination, to breed in the waters they were born in. As the salmon slowly died in the water, the bears would come along and have their pick of any fish they wanted. It was easy as it gets for the bears. I took this portrait as this bear picked up a decent looking fish to eat.

I was with a good friend one morning as we hiked out to do some moose photography during the moose rut. The high country was getting quite colorful by this time of year and I had high hopes of finding some nice bulls to photograph. This big guy is called "22" by many of the locals and he is quite a stud. He had a harem of at least 7 cows around which he guarded aggressively from other bulls that tried to subvert his authority. He wasn't having any of that and showed the smaller bulls who was boss. Here, he's taking a break from all the action, bedded down in the colorful fall alpine vegetation.
