I was on a weekend trip in Innsbruck. I went out on the evening to the main station of Innsbruck to take a few pictures of the nightly railway scene.
It took only 20 seconds until an "OeBB Security" person asked me, if I have a permission to take pictures. I said that I have none, as I'm not aware of needing one.
He explained to me that I need one as otherwise taking pictures with a large camera is not allowed inside this building and on platform 1. Smart phones are considered to be fine.
It was another 2 minutes until 3 more security people were around me. I was asked to delete the pictures, which I did as I did not want to go some OeBB Security Office for further investigation. The discussion around on which platforms taking pictures is not allowed came down to on no platform at all!

I was smiling a bit on Sunday afternoon as a few photographers were around and inside the station taking pictures with more than smart phones and no OeBB Security was there to interrupt them.

I have sent an e-mail to the ÖBB Communication and ÖBB Security for further clarification and how to obtain a permission.

The airport in Innsbruck is pretty close to the city. So any jet will pass only with a minimum of height above the buildings.

This arch was built to commemorate a weeding between two royal children in the year 1765.
So might be less easy to build such a thing today.
