We stayed for the last view days in the northern part of the Bourgogne, and we really enjoyed it.

We enjoyed the restaurant very much with chef knowing his business very well and creating wonderful dishes. But also the sommelière was absolutely knowing her business and recommended always very suitable wines for the respective menue.

The hotel is located on a former chateau - the chateau being burnt in the revolution times long ago. It took the owners a significant amount of time to give it its own style.

This was the place were the monks rested during the night.

Abbaye de Fontenay was a Cistercian abbey established 1118 close to Montbard. It is one of the oldest Cistercian abbeys in the world and became a World Heritage object in 1981.
The abbey was closed after the French revolution 1789, fortunately enough the following owner kept the place pretty much as it was.
