Long exposure at 250 seconds using the firecrest 16 stop ND filter, slowly getting used to this filter and getting in camera settings right. Leaving in the ghostly seagulls which I thought would add to the abandoned pier theme, I know some would take them out but I quite like them in this image...

Just over a 5 minute exposure early in the afternoon combining both the old and new piers at Swanage.
Now that the divers pontoon has been dismantled for the winter it was now a good chance for me to try out the firecrest 16 stop ND filter. I know places like this have been done to death but it is something I wanted to do, so while I was visiting Swanage the other day I thought I'd give it a go. Here I combined the old and new piers unfortunately not sure why but had quite bad light leakage at the shadows with the old pier, I have taken out around 90% and still not happy so here I turned it into a black and white for now, I don't do Black and White much so hope you like.
Since then I have not been able to recreate the light leakage so put it down to bad attachment to the camera.

Abandoned pier at Swanage. long exposure on a foggy foggy morning. Took a fair few that morning from different perspectives, after I packed my camera away I noticed the fog lifting enough to reveal a row of Swanage houses and quickly got out the camera setup and took this image plus enough time to capture the famous Wellington clock tower which revealed itself fading away with the abandoned pier going onto infinity.
Used Firecrest 16 stop ND filter with 111 seconds of exposure.
There is a colour version of this as well but the Black and White version adds an eerie mood...I will be uploading the colour version but I don't like to upload similar images consecutively.

Captured during a foggy morning with this abandoned old pier taking on a ghostly appearance . Their are one or two seagulls further into the image on the pier.
Long exposure using a firecrest ND4.8 or 16 stop ND filter.

The abandoned pier at Swanage in black and white was my previous upload this being the colour version of that image.
The colour version proved more of a challenge than the black and white, issues being colour cast and some light leakage, this was during the early days of me using this new filter system figuring out how to stop the light leakage as the colour cast is fairly straight forward to correct. Since figured out that even covering the viewfinder made no difference but covering the whole rear of the camera cured any light leakage.
This was an exercise in combining lr and with photoshop techniques to overcome both light leakage and colour cast, and after a few variation of edits from LR to photoshop to come up with an image I quite liked and having to learn a few processing skills in the process.
Headed to Swanage didn’t expect much with the weather and when I arrived was in awe to find the pier surrounded by fog surprisingly no other photographers, Long exposure on a foggy morning is a common theme with my images enjoying this start to the day when out with my camera. Noticing the fog would be dense one minute and fade away the next making the pier fade out nicely was exactly what I was after, while this image is only 111 seconds long it is amazing how much the fog would lift and descend within that time. Managing here to capture a fair few images that morning from different perspectives, so I am afraid there will be one or two more coming up soon. It was after packing away my gear and I'm sure most of us have had it where we have packed our gear only to get a better opportunity presented to us in this case the houses to the right started to reveal themselves through the fog, quickly got out the camera and filter, setup and took another set of images from this perspective, also just revealing itself the famous Wellington clock tower to the left of the houses with abandoned pier itself fading away into infinity and if you can see them a seagull or two.
Used a Firecrest 16 stop ND filter with 111 seconds of exposure and a manfrotto tripod.
