We had looked for this leopard numerous times, and spotted her and the cub more than once. Never in an optimal position or light, but that's how it often goes. This was the best situation we had. It was quite a treat to watch the cub romp around with momma as they worked their way thru the bush.

We came upon this single lion chowing down on a buffalo carcass Not too exciting and we really didn't see a photo op.

Fortunately we stayed alert and was able to catch this expression. I can only gues he reallly didn't like a little grass with his buffalo and was attempting to get it off his tongue.

In any case, I found his expression quite amusing to say the least.

I have posted three shots in a row of this family. The first one was the mother on the chase that ended badly for the cheetah family, but good for the prey.

The next was two of the young males chasing a baby impala. It was obvious that that was going to end badly for the impala, which it did.

The third was two of the young males not willing to share.

This is the same family later in the same day. The mother killed this adult Thompsons Gazelle and she is now attempting to drag it to safety away from leapoards and iions.

Clearly the young males have already had a taste and aren't much willing to wait any longer.

So I posted a shot two days ago with the mother of the four young male cubs on the chase, unsuccessfully. Yesterday I posted the shot of two of the young males chasing the baby impala. It was obvious how that was going to end.

Well this shot confirms that foregone conclusion.

All four youngsters hunted as a team to complete the coup de grace. But apparently once it was over, it was every cub for itself.

This guy grabbed the prize and all the other three proceeded to chase him incessantly.

Kids will be kids I guess.....

Needless to say, this did not end well for the Impala baby.

We, along with many other vehicles had been following this family of cheetahs, a mom and four siblings for a few hours. They had failed in a chase just a few minutes ago. Seemed like the action was over, The four younguns meanderd up a hill, went by a termite mound and all of a sudden took off.

Seems this baby was asleep on the other side of the mound and was discovered by the yound cheetahs. No idea why she/he did not follow her/his mom which of course was a fatal decision.

It was very difficult to watch as they essentially played with it. They would catch it, knock it around a bit, the baby would take off again and the chase would start all over.

Of course it gratefully ended eventually. Circle of life and all that, but that doesn't make it any easier to watch for a sympathetic soul as myself.
